I feel incredibly lucky to have carved out a special nook in my home just for crafting and crocheting! This space has evolved into a vibrant hub that makes running my business and indulging in my favorite hobby so much easier and more enjoyable. Today, I'm thrilled to share some of the standout features in my crafting area that truly elevate my experience. I hope these tips spark inspiration for you to create your own dream crafting space!
Save it for later!
Pegboards
Hanging pegboards on your wall is a great way to display your crochet projects or decorative yarn. You can easily use them to create your ideal yarn wall. I love to hang both yarn and showcase some of my crochet projects on my pegboards. Additionally, the pegboards come with a bag that can be used for extra storage.
Industrial Pipe Clothing Rack Bars
While searching for storage solutions for my knitting machines, I came across some clothing rack bars on Amazon. These bars are the perfect size and sturdy enough to securely hang my knitting machines on the wall. Not only does this keep them organized, but it also enhances my wall decor and adds practicality to my space.
Watch While You Crochet!
Bookshelf
A bookshelf significantly enhances the aesthetic of my crafting space, creating a visually pleasing and organized environment. It serves as a perfect storage solution for my extensive collection of crochet books, keeping them easily accessible while adding charm to the room. I particularly appreciate this collapsible bookshelf because it is lightweight and easy to move, allowing me to rearrange my space as needed.
Plastic Drawer Storage Organizer
This plastic drawer storage organizer is an ideal solution for storing small items such as safety eyes and other tiny supplies. With 24 individual drawers, you can easily store and separate various sizes of safety eyes. As many of us who crochet amigurumi know, we often have a large collection of different-sized safety eyes.
Granny Square Blocking Board
I am currently crocheting a book blanket, which consists of granny squares that match the cover of each book I read throughout the year. I needed a place to block all my granny squares, so I got a wooden blocking board. I especially love this blocking board because it has a stand, allowing me to display my colorful granny squares.
Test Tube Rack
I love custom crochet hooks, and while searching for a way to display them, I came across a test tube rack. Although it was originally designed to hold test tubes, my custom crochet hooks fit perfectly in the rack. I appreciate the wooden look, which matches the vibe of my crafting space beautifully.
Storage Cabinet with Doors
If you have cats, you may understand the challenge of storing your yarn in a place where they can't reach it. I used to keep my yarn in open cube shelves and frequently came home to find yarn scattered all over my apartment. When I discovered bookshelves with attachable glass doors, I was thrilled. These bookshelves not only brighten up my crafting space but also provide a practical solution for storing my large yarn collection. Additionally, they help reduce dust accumulation and limit my cats' access to the yarn.
Cross-Legged Armless Office Chair
I often enjoy sitting with my legs crossed. This extra-wide office chair is not only comfortable but also stylish, allowing me to change my seating position easily. It is spacious enough for both me and my cats to sit together on the chair. Squibble, in particular, likes to sit next to me while I’m working.
Yarn Winder
Remember that pegboard we discussed? You can't have your ideal yarn wall without a yarn winder. This yarn winder is both easy to use and durable. I've found it effective for winding yarns ranging from lightweight to worsted weight. However, if you plan to work with bulkier yarns, you might want to consider getting a larger yarn winder. It also comes with a clamp, which makes it easy to attach to a tabletop.
Alex Drawers
You can never have too much storage in a crafting space. I love my Alex drawers from IKEA, as I use them to store most of my supplies. The drawers come in two different sizes, making them ideal for organizing items of various dimensions. Additionally, they provide ample storage space. I found them relatively easy to assemble, and it only took a couple of hours.
EPSON Color Printer
I absolutely love this EPSON printer! I use it frequently for printing materials for my business and my crochet patterns. It's incredibly easy to use, especially for someone like me who struggles with technology. The print quality is outstanding, and I appreciate that it's wireless and comes with a built-in scanner.
Desktop Print Stand
I'm really passionate about keeping my space organized. I use this desktop print stand to create vertical storage, which helps me clear up some space on my desk. I store my color printer, label printer, and laminator on this organizer.
Natural Wood Floating Shelves
I needed a place to display my creations in my crafting space. I love the look of natural wood floating shelves, as they perfectly match the aesthetic of my space. I recommend using power tools for installation, but with my husband's help, I was able to hang them up easily. I love how my creations look when displayed on these shelves.
Memory Foam Wrist Rest for Keyboard and Mouse
Wrist pain is one of my biggest challenges, and it's essential for me to avoid it while crocheting or working. I use stylish memory foam wrist rests for my keyboard and mouse while I’m on my computer or filming crochet tutorials. They are incredibly comfortable and, in my experience, significantly reduce wrist pain and fatigue.
Small USB Desk Fan
Even during the winter months, I tend to get overheated quite easily. Whether it's due to genetics or where I live, I really dislike feeling hot. This small desk fan is not only affordable but also fits perfectly on my desk without taking up much space. It connects via USB, making it easy to plug into my computer while I'm working or crocheting.
Wireless Charging Stand
My wireless charging stand is essential for me. I love using it for my phone because I can easily access my screen and watch videos without needing to hold my device or deal with messy cords. It allows me to use my phone while it charges, which is incredibly convenient. Additionally, I can easily pull up crochet patterns on my phone, making it easier to view them while they're on the stand.
Sleeper Sofa
This item was actually handed down from my parents when they moved, but it's easy to find at IKEA. I love that it serves two purposes in my crafting space: it provides a comfortable spot for me to crochet and also serves as a place for guests to sleep when they visit. I have plans to add some custom crocheted pillows to this couch; I just need to find the time.
Colorful Desk Pad
With my desk being white, I wanted to add some color to my workspace using a desk pad. I enjoy supporting small businesses, and when I discovered Elyse Breanne Designs, I instantly fell in love with her designs. I appreciate the natural look combined with bright, beautiful colors. She offers a variety of fun floral patterns, and I found one that perfectly matches my brand.
I hope this detailed behind-the-scenes glimpse into my crafting space provides you with a clearer understanding of how I organize and make the most of my environment. From the way I store my yarn to the layout of my tools and accessories, each element is carefully arranged to enhance my creativity and efficiency. I hope this tour inspires you to design and cultivate your own ideal crochet space, tailored to your unique style and needs!
