Define Your Space
First, clearly define your space and set realistic expectations for it. Whether you have a whole room, a closet, or just a corner, dedicate that space for your personal or business use. For example, my craft space is located in a corner of my basement.
When considering how to transform your crafting space, take into account the available size, lighting, and your skills. If you have an entire room dedicated to crocheting, you’ll likely have more options for organization than someone who only has a small corner in their living room. But this shouldn’t hold you back!

Design & Plan Your Space
I find it's essential to plan your craft space and come up with organizational ideas before purchasing or implementing anything. You might even consider creating a blueprint for your area. While you can always make adjustments later (I certainly have), it's helpful to have a rough idea of what you want to achieve with your space. For me, my area is not only for crocheting but also for running my business. I aimed for a space that is both functional and organized, while also reflecting my brand through specific colors and themes.

Final Space Reveal
I have really enjoyed organizing my craft space! I used many of the items I mentioned earlier to create a functional and visually appealing area. Feel free to use any of these items or my ideas to enhance your own craft space!

Mason Jars
Mason jars are easy to find, relatively inexpensive, and great for organizing smaller items. You can save and reuse mason jars from grocery items like yogurt, marinara sauce, pickles, and more. You can also personalize your mason jars by adding a crochet cozy! I use my mason jars to hold pencils and pens, but they can also be used for storing crochet hooks, stitch markers, yarn needles, embroidery thread, and much more. I followed The Alpine Stitch's pattern to create my mason jar cozy!

Decorative Pots or Jars
Just like mason jars, pots are easy to find and can add a fun touch to your craft space. As a crochet plant lady, I find that they perfectly fit my aesthetic. I discovered this decorative mushroom pot at a craft show, and I currently use it to store small skeins of yarn. I also found this mushroom jar at Joann’s, which I use to store leftover scrap yarn. It’s such a shame that they are now closed!

Baskets or Crates
Here are my favorite storage options for extra yarn and supplies! I’ve found a variety of baskets in different sizes to suit various needs. There are large baskets perfect for storing yarn and smaller ones ideal for organizing supplies and tools in drawers. You could even have fun with it and crochet some of your very own baskets! There are hundreds of different crochet basket patterns out there!

Shelves or Cabinets
My IKEA cabinets are probably my favorite addition to my crafting space. Although assembling them took some time and effort, they were definitely worth it. As a cat owner, the glass doors not only protect my yarn from curious paws, but they also brighten up the dark corner of my basement.

Additionally, I found some wooden shelves on Amazon that help showcase my designs and creations!

Drawer Storage Organizer
This 24-drawer storage organizer fits perfectly on my desk. I love its simple design, and it is very functional, helping to keep my safety eyes and other small items organized in my workspace.

Over-The-Door Organizer
Over-the-door organizers are an excellent way to easily manage your yarn and other supplies. I use one on the closet door in my basement, and it holds a surprisingly large amount of yarn. I also appreciate the small side pockets, which are perfect for storing smaller items like hooks and stitch markers.

Test Tube Holder
While searching for a fun way to display my decorative crochet hooks, I discovered a wooden test tube holder. It helps me organize my crochet hooks and admire the artwork on them.

Peg Boards
Peg boards are a creative way to utilize wall space for organization and can help you create a stunning yarn wall. While I don't primarily use my peg board for yarn, I believe it enhances the overall ambiance of my space. Yarn walls not only bring a beautiful array of colors to your environment but also help you organize your yarn skeins in a fun and visually appealing manner. Peg boards are a great way to hang crochet baskets! I crocheted the Debrosse Lapli Basket, a quick and easy pattern, to store items on my pegboard.

Yarn Winder
Speaking of yarn walls, it's important to note that achieving your perfect yarn wall requires a yarn winder. While I typically keep most of my yarn in its original skein, I occasionally wind some into a tightly packed skein. This makes it easier to store and use when I'm crocheting, especially when I'm in the mood to organize my stash.

Clothing Racks
Clothing racks are a fantastic way to make use of wall space! I use industrial rod clothing racks to hang my knitting machines above my desk. This setup not only provides easy storage for my machines but also offers a beautiful view of these well-crafted tools, enhancing the overall aesthetic of my workspace.
I hope you enjoyed walking through my craft space with me as I organized and decluttered. I hope some of these ideas inspire you to take on the challenge of organizing and decluttering your own craft space!
